Home Ownership
Overview
The Wilmington Housing Authority (WHA) is developing programs to provide a pathway to home ownership for low-income families. The WHA, in cooperation with housing counseling agencies, provides free home-ownership seminars, credit counseling and budgeting seminars to residents so they can achieve the goal of home ownership.
At this time, WHA offers the following home-ownership programs:
- Section 8 Home-Ownership Program
This statewide initiative provides home-ownership opportunities to Section 8 voucher holders. Section 8 assistance payments are used to make mortgage payments on behalf of eligible participants who qualify for mortgage assistance.
- HOPE VI Home-Ownership Program
The future HOPE VI offered 90 homes for sale, 35 of which were targeted to low-income families making at least $18,000 annually. The balance of the homes were offered at market rate prices.
- Section 32 Home-Ownership Program
Please visit the Community Supportive Services unit at 1800 Broom Street, Suite 107, or call (302) 429-0954 to inquire about WHA’s home-ownership programs.
